An Ajrakh Saree is a hand-block printed saree created using one of the oldest textile traditions of India, dating back over 4,000 years. The name Ajrakh comes from the Arabic word “Azrak”, meaning blue, as the natural indigo dye is a signature color in Ajrakh prints.

Ajrakh sarees are admired for their intricate geometric and floral patterns, perfectly aligned using hand-carved wooden blocks and a resist-dyeing technique. Each saree can take up to 14–16 stages of dyeing, washing, and printing, making it an art form that blends patience, precision, and tradition.

Ajrakh sarees are primarily manufactured in Kutch, Gujarat – Villages like Ajrakhpur and Dhamadka are the heart of Ajrakh printing, where artisan families have preserved this tradition for centuries. These sarees are still made with natural dyes like indigo, madder red, turmeric, iron black, and pomegranate peel, keeping the craft eco-friendly and sustainable.

Ajrakh sarees are versatile—they can look ethnic, contemporary, or fusion chic depending on how you style them. Classic traditional look, elegant office/professional look, contemporary fusion look, festive and wedding look.
